First United Methodist Church of Orlando

Missionary Support

Our outreach team has decided to help support and pray for the following individuals and families as they follow a call from God to serve in different places and cultures in ministry.

Steve and Shannon Mersinger

Along with their two children, Steve and Shannon will be moving to Brazil at the end of 2009 to serve with the Mission Society.  They will be connected with the Methodist Church in Brazil.  They will be working in the areas of discipleship and the encouragement of young believers, and also focusing on ministry of prayer and intercession.  Another part of their ministry will be serving as house parents within an outreach of the Brazilian Methodist church to orphans, caring for three children as part of their home.

More information about Steve and Shannon’s ministry, along with prayer requests and ways to support them may be found at the following website:

East Asia Missionary

A member of our congregation is serving on mission with Campus Crusade for Christ in East Asia.  This is his second year working with university students there.  A large part of his focus is on meeting with individuals and small groups, engaging in evangelism and discipleship.  He would appreciate your prayers for him in these ways:

that the Lord would really give us wisdom and discernment in challenging students to lead,

that the Lord would raise up leaders who desire to give more and more people the opportunity to hear the Good News and grow in their relationship with the Lord,

that the students who became believers over the summer would be eager to grow in the Lord and serve Him on their campus,

that students would really own the ministry here, as we are only four people on three campuses,

that our students would grow in their appreciation of the grace that has been given them, and that they would experience His love for them,

that our team would love each other well and seek the Lord always,

that our students would gain ‘hearts for the nations’, especially unreached people groups within and outside of East Asia,

that we and our students would delight in the Lord and rejoice in the God of our salvation,

that the Lord would prepare the hearts of students and draw many into  relationship with himself this year,

that the Lord would be glorified in all these things.
