Dear IHN VoHey IHN Volunteers,

We now will be hosting IHN in the newly renovated Ledbetter Building on the second floor.  This should be a great space yet it does not have an elevator.  Thus I am in dire need to have some more volunteers to help me carry gear up and down the stairs during Setup and Teardown.  The strong the better, but all are welcome.

Please reach deep to serve, as FUMCO’s ability to maintain participation in this ministry is wholly dependent on our volunteers.

Thank you,
Michael Dippy

Our upcoming IHN Hosting Schedule:
Check here for the schedule of our next
Interfaith Hospitality Network hosting week.

Hey IHN Volunteers,

You have done a great job of filling up most of the service assignments.  Yet, we still have a desperate need for Set-up, Tear-down and Saturday Day-Time Host.  I also could use somebody willing to do the grocery shopping.  I have a list, let me know.  Attached is the current sign-up sheet.

Your Interfaith FamilyThe Interfaith Hospitality Network ("IHN") of Orange and Seminole Counties is composed of host and support congregations that provide volunteers, overnight accommodations, and meals at churches for 3 or 4 homeless families with children (maximum of 14 people) for one week at a time on a rotating schedule. First United Methodist Church of Orlando has participated in IHN since July 2003, and we have hosted a total of 27 times through September 2008

IHN focuses on keeping families together, using a comprehensive approach as its counselors seek permanent housing, employment, daycare, health care and other social services necessary to assist guests to achieve independence and return to mainstream life. Follow-up counseling services are provided, too.

We welcome inquiries about the program, and we welcome new volunteers to help with the next hosting period. Approximately 40 people are required to fully staff the week at the Church. For more information, or if you want to help, please contact Michael Dippy, Coordinator, at michaeldippy@eartlink.net.

Each hosting week, we need over 40 volunteers to help make or serve a meal, stay overnight, or be an evening host. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Michael Dippy at mdippy@earthlink.net. Our greatest need is for evening and overnight hosts. There are also a few spots left to serve dinner at the Coalition for the Homeless to over two hundred women and children on this Monday. We make PB&J’s for the Men’s Pavilion at 5:15 and begin serving dinner by 6 p.m. (We perform this service once every first Monday of each month.

we always need volunteers helping in the areas of set-up, tear-down, laundry (after hosting), meal preparation and serving, and evening and overnight hosts.  It is truly a team ministry, and your involvement makes a large difference in the lives of these families!

Contact Michael Dippy, at michaeldippy@eartlink.net,  to learn more about IHN or sign up for one of these volunteer opporutunities. YOUR CONTINUING DEDICATION AND SUPPORT WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED AND CRITICAL TO THE SUCCESS OF IHN.
